data-popup-type=\"GC\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\"#pbukPopup\">Green Card System<\/a> the Polish Motor Insurers\u2019 Bureau acts as a National Bureau representing Poland in the System and is a member of the COB. Fulfilling the requirements of the so called UN Geneva Recommendation (Recommendation No 5 on Insurance of Motorists Against Third Party Risks of 25.01.1949), <b>PBUK<\/b> is an organisation recognised by the Polish government, and has signed and continues to sign relevant agreements with its counterparts in other countries Members of the <a href=\"#\" class=\"pbuk-popup-link\" data-popup-type=\"GC\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\"#pbukPopup\">Green Card System<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The membership of Poland in the Green Card System dates back to the year 1958, when, shortly after introducing compulsory motor third party liability insurance in Poland (1952), the insurance company named Pa\u0144stwowy Zak\u0142ad Ubezpiecze\u0144 became a member of the Council of Bureaux. As a result of subsequent changes in Polish law, the representation of Poland in the System passed successively to WARTA Insurance and Reinsurance Company SA (1960-1990), the Polish Green Card Bureau (1900-1996), and the Polish Motor Insurance Bureau (from 10.05.1996), established under Chapter 10 of the Amendment to the Act on Insurance Activity of 28.07.1990. The amended act of 08.06.1995 granted <b>PBUK<\/b> legal personality and stated that it would take over all functions, rights, and obligations of the Polish Green Card Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>As of 01.01.2004, in accordance with provisions of the Act on Compulsory Insurance, UFG and PBUK, the official name of the Bureau is <b>Polish Motor Insurers' Bureau<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Within the framework of its activity, <b>PBUK<\/b> among other things, organises claims settlements or directly settles claims caused in Poland by owners of motor vehicles registered abroad. <b>PBUK<\/b> issues insurance documents valid in other countries of the <a href=\"#\" class=\"pbuk-popup-link\" data-popup-type=\"GC\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\"#pbukPopup\">Green Card System<\/a>, including frontier insurance valid in countries of the <a href=\"#\" class=\"pbuk-popup-link\" data-popup-type=\"EOG\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\"#pbukPopup\">EEA countries<\/a>.
