1 An incident involving a vehicle registered in the European Economic Area (EEA), Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland and United Kingdom for which a third party liability insurance policy issued in the country of registration of the vehicle applies in Poland.
Drivers of vehicles registered in EEA countries, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland and United Kingdom are not obliged to carry a document confirming the conclusion of a third party liability insurance contract.
In the event of a collision or accident, write down the registration number and make of the vehicle causing the damage and, if possible, take a photo of the vehicle's registration plate and the insurance policy (if the driver has it with them), write down its number and the name of the insurer. If the police did not intervene at the scene of the incident, prepare a statement with the perpetrator about the circumstances of the incident (accident statement form can be downloaded here).
If you know the name of the insurer
If you find the name of a foreign company in the correspondent search engine, but the message 'No correspondent meeting the above criteria was found' is displayed, contact PZU S.A. or TUiR Warta S.A. and report the damage to one of these insurance companies, asking to accept the damage report as the Agent of the Polish Motor Insurers' Bureau (PBUK). It handles claims settlement on behalf of PBUK in a situation where the insurer of a foreign insurance company does not have a representative (so-called correspondent) in Poland.
If you do not know the name of the insurer
If you do not know with which company the perpetrator's vehicle is insured, contact PZU S.A. or TUiR Warta S.A. and report the damage to one of these insurance companies, providing the registration number and country of registration of the perpetrator's vehicle (important: it is the registration plate that counts, not the citizenship or nationality of the driver). Under agreements concluded with PBUK, these companies will inspect and assess the damage to your vehicle, and notify us about the damage, and then we establish the third party liability insurance of the owner of the vehicle that caused the damage.
You will receive the result of the attempt at establishing the insurer, along with information about which company to contact regarding further claims handling, directly from us or from PZU S.A. or TUiR WARTA S.A.
In case you have any questions or are in doubt, please contact the Polish Motor Insurers' Bureau.
2 An incident involving a vehicle registered in a country other than the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland and United Kingdom for which Green Card insurance applies in Poland.
